Wooting has announced an updated version of its acclaimed 80HE gaming keyboard, dubbed the Wooting 80HE+. The new model, available for pre-order starting September 17, introduces several enhancements, including a prominent rotary encoder, referred to as a "BIG KNOB," and upgraded internal components.

The original Wooting 80HE has been praised for its performance and customizability, largely due to its Hall effect switches that allow for adjustable actuation points and rapid trigger functionality. These features are highly valued by competitive gamers for their responsiveness. The keyboard also features a sleek design and user-friendly software.

The Wooting 80HE+ will incorporate the Lekker Tikken switches, which are also found in the Wooting 60HE V2. These newer switches are noted for their increased stability and a more pleasant sound and feel compared to the Lekker60 V2 switches used in the original 80HE. The inclusion of a new FR4 plate is also expected to contribute to an improved typing experience.

Beyond the switch and plate upgrades, the Wooting 80HE+ will feature a split spacebar module. This design effectively increases the number of accessible keys by dividing the standard spacebar into three separate buttons, offering further customization options for gamers.

While pricing details for the 80HE+ are not yet fully confirmed, Wooting has indicated that pre-assembled versions will be priced "almost the same" as the original 80HE, which retailed around $200. Despite being a premium-priced peripheral, the original 80HE was considered by some to be the best overall choice for competitive gamers seeking Hall effect benefits, and the 80HE+ aims to build upon that reputation.
