NetEase and developer Naked Rain have announced that Ananta, a free-to-play open-world anime RPG, will launch worldwide on January 15, 2027. The game is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and mobile platforms. Ananta, which was previously known by the working title Project Mugen, has garnered significant attention, with pre-registrations surpassing 17 million.

A new trailer released during Gamescom Opening Night Live showcased a variety of gameplay elements, including urban exploration, driving, cycling, skateboarding, flying, stealth, and melee combat. The footage also hinted at in-game social media applications and the presence of a large cast of characters, alongside a dramatic UFO appearance.

Beyond its action-oriented mechanics, Ananta aims to center its gameplay around becoming a social media influencer. The game will feature a unique in-game social platform where players can cultivate their online presence and grow their follower count. The developers have also indicated that the game will feature multiple playable characters, each offering distinct opportunities within the open-world cities. While monetization details are not fully clear, reports suggest that gacha elements previously associated with unlocking characters have been removed.

Players interested in Ananta can still pre-register for the game to potentially receive free cosmetics and in-game currency upon launch.
