Aniimo, an open-world, free-to-play creature collector, has received a release date of September 16 for PC and consoles, with mobile platforms to follow on September 23. The announcement came during a new trailer shown at Gamescom's Opening Night Live pre-show.
During a preview earlier this year, the game drew cautious optimism for its similarities to the Pokémon series. Players will gather a party of creatures to explore an open world and engage in battles. A key distinguishing feature is the "Twine mechanic," which allows direct player control over Aniimo in both combat and open-world traversal, enabling them to use abilities such as flying and digging. The full extent to which the free-to-play aspects will influence gameplay remains to be seen, as this was not explored in the preview demo.
Aniimo is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC on September 16. iOS and Android versions will be available on September 23.
