Preorders for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 have begun, with the game slated for release on October 23rd with a price tag of $69.99. This marks the first Call of Duty title to be available on a Nintendo platform since Call of Duty: Ghosts released on the Wii U in 2013. The preorder listing was made available at Best Buy.
While physical copies will be available, they will not include a game card. Instead, purchasers will receive a code within the box that must be redeemed on the Nintendo eShop to download the game. This approach is attributed to the substantial file size of modern Call of Duty titles, which often exceed 100GB, far surpassing the 64GB capacity of current Switch game cards. The game will feature a launcher application allowing players to select and download specific components.
Players who preorder the game will receive the Hunter Killer Operator Skin and the Gilded Pearl Camo Pack, which includes two weapon camos. Digital preorders will also grant early access to the campaign starting October 16th.
The Switch 2 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will feature the complete game experience found on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles. This includes the Korea-based campaign, which Activision describes as following a squad of South Korean soldiers during a full-scale invasion while Captain Price wages a personal war, as well as multiplayer modes. The extraction-focused DMZ mode will also be present, though online play will require a Nintendo Online subscription.
This announcement coincides with news of a free Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta weekend for the Switch 2, offering players a chance to earn in-game beta rewards such as emblems and skins.
