The upcoming RPG Exodus will launch on April 7, 2027. This release date was revealed during Gamescom's Opening Night Live showcase, hosted by Geoff Keighley. The game, developed by Archetype Entertainment, was first announced at The Game Awards in 2023.

A new trailer shown during the event focused on Salt, an 'awakened octopus' serving as one of Exodus' companions. Equipped with a translator chip and piloting a mech suit, Salt is portrayed with a serious demeanor and a tragic past. The trailer also offered a glimpse of Emrys, a Celestial companion, representing a highly evolved branch of humanity.

Archetype Entertainment was founded by developers with prior experience at studios such as BioWare, Halo Studios, and Naughty Dog. Players will step into the role of Jun Aslan, the heir to a Dynasty tasked with saving their homeworld, Lidon. The game features third-person shooting, a choice-driven narrative, and a cast of distinct companions, drawing comparisons to the Mass Effect series due to the pedigree of its development team. The game's world incorporates the concept of time dilation, where characters traveling near light speed experience time differently than those remaining stationary, a theme also explored in the film Interstellar. Matthew McConaughey, who starred in Interstellar, will make his video game debut in Exodus as the character C. C. Orlev.

Exodus is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The game is also featured on the cover of the latest issue of Game Informer, which includes further details and interviews.
