Archetype Entertainment has announced a launch date for its upcoming third-person science fiction RPG, Exodus. Revealed during the Gamescom Opening Night Live ceremony, the game will release on April 7 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A new cinematic gameplay trailer also introduced a notable companion character named Salt.
Salt is depicted as a skilled mercenary and a talking octopus, piloting a mech suit. She belongs to a group known as the Awakened, animals capable of communicating with humans. In combat, Salt can keep pace with the player character, Jun Aslan, providing support alongside another companion, Emrys. Emrys is part of a species called the Deva and can transfer energy from enemies to protect Jun and Salt. Salt herself can deploy ink-based smokescreens for tactical repositioning.
The trailer also showcased the game's unique time dilation mechanic, described as "Interstellar-style." This means that a few years spent traveling in space could equate to 87 years passing on Salt's home planet. This mechanic will tie into Exodus' narrative, as player decisions will have consequences that affect humanity across generations.
Exodus is now available to wishlist on PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. The game has already met its first wishlist milestone of 500,000 additions, which unlocked a Celestial Star Map Decoration for players' in-game apartments, additional concept art, and the music track "Elegy for a Forgotten World." Future wishlist milestones promise further rewards, including cosmetic skins, a Salt-focused story cinematic, and more music from the game's original soundtrack.
