Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy VII: Revelation, the concluding chapter of its Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy, will launch on April 8, 2027. The announcement was made during Sony's latest PlayStation State of Play broadcast.

Revelation is set to release simultaneously across all platforms, including PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S, as well as PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Following the game's launch, two story expansions are planned for release within the subsequent 12 months. These are titled Story DLC 1: Sephiroth and Story DLC 2: Vincent & the Turks, and are part of a Story Expansion pass that has appeared on Steam. Pricing for this pass has not yet been detailed, and specific story content for the DLCs remains undisclosed.

The game will feature the return of familiar characters such as Cid, Yuffie, Red XIII, Vincent, Barret, Tifa, Cait Sith, and Cloud. Players can expect further details on battle customization. Sidequests are said to adapt based on the player's active character. Additionally, a new dialogue skipping feature will allow players to progress conversations at double speed.

Exploration in Final Fantasy VII: Revelation will include the ability to leap from the Highwind airship into the new region of Wutai, with a parachute mechanic reminiscent of Fortnite. Within Wutai, players will have the option to photograph cats. The Queen's Blood card game, a popular feature from previous entries, will now center around Red XIII.

The release date announcement was made during the September 2026 PlayStation State of Play showcase.
