A recent leak from the Xbox store indicates that Mewgenics, the acclaimed roguelike developed by Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel, may be heading to Xbox Series X on September 8. The premature listing, discovered on August 23 by True Achievements, also detailed that the port would include 53 achievements for players to unlock.

While the Xbox store page has since been updated and no longer displays a specific release date, it continues to confirm that a Nicalis-published version for Microsoft's console is in development. This aligns with recent teases from Mewgenics creator Edmund McMillen, who hinted at a Gamescom Opening Night Live announcement related to the game. It is widely anticipated that the Xbox port will be officially revealed during the event, which is scheduled to air on August 25.

It remains to be seen whether any other console ports for PlayStation or Nintendo, or additional new content for Mewgenics, will be announced. The game originally launched on PC earlier this year to critical acclaim, praised for its irreverent humor reminiscent of early internet culture and its unique premise of assembling an army of cats for combat. Polygon's review lauded Mewgenics for its skillful balance between juvenile humor and complex gameplay.

If the September 8 release date holds true, Mewgenics will join a crowded roguelike genre with its distinctive style and mechanics. Further details are expected following the Gamescom Opening Night Live presentation.
