Nintendo has officially opened preorders for two significant upcoming releases: a Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Nintendo Switch 2 console and the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time game. The special edition console is slated to ship on October 29, with the game launching shortly after on November 5.
As players prepare to acquire the new hardware, acquiring sufficient storage is advised. The Switch 2 comes with 256GB of internal storage, a capacity that can be quickly depleted by modern game sizes. For additional storage, the Switch 2 exclusively supports MicroSD Express cards, which are significantly faster than standard MicroSD cards used in previous Nintendo Switch models. Older memory cards will not be compatible with the new console.
The Onn 512GB MicroSD Express Memory Card is available at Walmart for $84.77 with free shipping, and a 256GB model is also offered for $46.77. These cards boast speeds of up to 800MB/s write and 600MB/s read.
Several Switch 2 titles demand substantial storage. Final Fantasy 14 requires approximately 117GB, while Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade needs 90GB, Split Fiction 70GB, Cyberpunk 2077 60GB, and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity 44GB. Upcoming releases such as Ocarina of Time are estimated to take up 27GB, and Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave will require 30GB. Downloading just a few titles can consume a significant portion of the console's built-in storage.
In addition to console and storage deals, Walmart is also offering The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for $10 less than its standard retail price at other retailers.
