The intensely popular first-person shooter Wardogs, which recently launched on PC via Steam Early Access, has finally received an official release window for its console versions. Developers at Bulkhead announced that the game is targeting a 2028 arrival on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
Players can wishlist Wardogs on both PlayStation and Xbox platforms today, though they face a lengthy wait for the game's debut. The extended timeframe means the game could potentially arrive alongside the next generation of consoles, possibly extending to future hardware like the PlayStation 6 and Xbox's Project Helix.
Wardogs' launch tagline, "play like you used to," aims to evoke an era of multiplayer gaming described as social, unpredictable, and highly engaging. The game's appeal has been evident in its beta phases, with SteamDB reporting a peak of 245,118 concurrent players, indicating a strong demand for this particular style of first-person shooter.
Joe Brammer, CEO at Bulkhead, characterized Wardogs as an ambitious title that is still in its early stages. He emphasized the value of Early Access for incorporating player feedback and taking necessary risks to ensure the game's longevity. "More than anything, we want people to get online, talk to each other and have the kind of fun in an FPS that we grew up having," Brammer stated, highlighting the developer's commitment to fostering a social and engaging multiplayer experience.
