Barry Sloane, the actor behind Captain Price in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series, has stated he believes he is the most qualified person to portray the iconic character in the forthcoming live-action movie. Speaking with Dan Allen Gaming, Sloane shared his enthusiasm for the project, which is set to be directed by Peter Berg and written by Taylor Sheridan, and will reportedly take place within the Modern Warfare universe.
"I don't think there's anyone else on the planet who is as qualified for the job as I am," Sloane commented. He highlighted his decade-long immersion in the character, his understanding of the project's scale, and his connection with the fanbase as key qualifications. While acknowledging the unpredictable nature of Hollywood casting, Sloane affirmed his strong desire to play Price in the film, calling it a "fantastic" opportunity.
Sloane also noted the significant fan support for his involvement in the movie. He acknowledged that studios often have a predetermined list of actors for such roles, but he feels he would be a valuable asset to the production if given the chance. The trend of increasingly realistic game visuals has fueled a growing expectation for movie adaptations to cast the actors who originate the characters' likenesses.
The actor also touched upon the character's fate in the games, specifically mentioning the events of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, where Captain Price's story seemingly concluded. If the movie is to remain canonical to the games, it would likely need to be set before these events or focus on surviving characters or new additions to the franchise. With the film slated for a 2028 release, further casting announcements are anticipated in the coming year.
