The launch of World of Warcraft: Forever has seen surprisingly few major issues, defying player expectations shaped by previous World of Warcraft Classic releases. While players encountered short login queues immediately after the 3 PM PT launch, and rulesets were initially unavailable, these problems were resolved within approximately 30 minutes.
Blizzard opted for a "realmless" architecture for Forever, moving away from the traditional server-based model. Instead of selecting a specific server, players now choose a desired ruleset, such as Player vs. Environment, Roleplaying, or Player vs. Player. All players within the same ruleset are then connected to a large, interconnected network of servers. This new approach appears to have been successful, as the game has experienced minimal lag and few issues since the initial 30-minute period.
Starting zones are reportedly crowded, but progress on quests remains possible. Some players have shared positive feedback on Reddit, with one user calling it "possibly the best Blizzard launch ever" and another stating they have "never seen a smoother launch."
In other recent news regarding Forever, Blizzard implemented significant damage boosts for all classes prior to launch. The developer is also teasing a new legendary weapon and hinting at potential future additions of new class and race combinations to the game.
