Grand Theft Auto 6 has generated over $750 million in preorder sales just two weeks before its official release, according to an estimate from analytics firm Sensor Tower. The game, slated for launch on November 19, 2026, is one of the most anticipated titles in gaming history.
As of November 3, Sensor Tower's data indicates that approximately 7.71 million units have been sold through preorders, translating to approximately $751 million in revenue. The sales data reveals a significant preference for the PlayStation version, with preorders split at 74% for PlayStation consoles and 26% for Xbox. This breaks down to roughly $559 million in revenue from PlayStation preorders and $192 million from Xbox.
These preorder figures suggest that GTA 6 could potentially break the records set by its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto 5, which achieved $800 million in sales within its first 24 hours and $1 billion in three days. Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has noted that many fans are opting for the $100 Ultimate Edition of GTA 6. Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, stated in a previous interview that this trend is likely driven by the most dedicated consumers who pre-order early. He also commented on the pricing of the game, noting that the $80 standard edition and the premium Ultimate Edition are priced to offer substantial value to players, suggesting that the cost of AAA game development has not kept pace with inflation over the past two decades.
GTA 6 will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Previous reports have indicated high player engagement, with many fans planning to take time off work on release day and some expressing extreme eagerness to play the game early.
