In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, players may encounter a locked chest situated near the entrance to Gerudo Valley. This chest is inaccessible to Child Link, but can be opened with a clever use of the game's time-travel mechanics. The reward for this puzzle is a valuable Heart Piece.

Unlocking the Chest

To access the chest, players must first advance the game's timeline to Link's adult form. This is achieved by visiting the Temple of Time and drawing the Master Sword. Once Link has transitioned to adulthood, he should return to the location of the chest.

Upon returning as Adult Link, the chest will be found open but empty. Nearby, on a wall, players can read "Fairy's Thoughts." This inscription reveals that the chest previously contained a Heart Piece.

Link is shown approaching some Fairy's Thoughts written on a wall in The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time Remake.

After reading the Fairy's Thoughts, players must travel back to Link's child timeline. Returning to the chest as Child Link will now allow him to open it and claim the Heart Piece.

It is worth noting that this particular Heart Piece is exclusive to the remake of the game for the Nintendo Switch.
