The Chizha Mount Ling 2 Pro is a new portable hub designed to enhance the experience of PC gaming handhelds like the Steam Deck and Asus ROG Ally X, offering docking capabilities, built-in game capture, and expandable storage. GameSpot has had hands-on with the device, noting its potential to reduce cable clutter and add a "cyberpunk vibe" to a setup.
The Mount Ling Pro 2 integrates a capture card capable of recording gameplay at up to 4K 60fps. It also features a slot for an NVMe solid-state drive, supporting drives up to 4TB for storing recorded footage. This consolidation of features into a single portable unit is a key selling point. The device also includes a front-facing display that shows the current output resolution and power draw, information that could be valuable for content creators.
During testing with PC handhelds, the Mount Ling Pro 2 performed well. However, GameSpot encountered issues when attempting to use it with the Nintendo Switch. Senior video producer Jean-Luc Seipke reported that colors appeared "washed out" on a Samsung TV when connected through the Chizha dock, though this was not an issue with a portable monitor. Seipke was informed by the creators that this might be a firmware problem they are actively working to resolve.
Further testing revealed problems with upscaling on the Switch. While the official Switch dock initiates an upscaling method that smooths images, this process did not appear to trigger correctly with the Mount Ling Pro 2, resulting in a noticeably degraded image quality for games not natively running at 4K. Additionally, the internal storage drive functionality was limited to PC handhelds, making the dock not recommended for users primarily intending to capture Nintendo Switch gameplay at this time. The Mount Ling Pro 2 is currently available on Kickstarter for $150, with a planned retail price of $250.
