DLSS 5 Mod Leads to Regret in Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Mega Mix+

An attempt to run Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Mega Mix+ with an unofficial DLSS 5 mod resulted in significant performance degradation and a negative player experience. While DLSS 5 is officially limited to Nvidia's 50-series graphics cards, an enthusiast leveraged a tool known as DLSS 5 Manager to apply the upscaling technology to their RTX 4070 Super.

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Mega Mix+ typically runs at a stable 60 frames per second, a crucial factor for a rhythm game that relies on precise timing. However, the implementation of the DLSS 5 mod, particularly with its 'Live Flow' function, caused the frame rate to plummet. This performance hit made executing timed button prompts nearly impossible, undermining the core gameplay.

To assess the visual impact without the pressure of the rhythm mechanics, the experiment shifted to the game's music video playback. While some visual enhancements might be present, the severe performance penalty overshadowed any potential benefits. The modded experience, characterized by a drastically reduced frame rate, led to a sense of regret, as the technological boost came at too high a cost for the game's demanding performance needs.

The author notes that DLSS 5 is expected to eventually support 40-series cards officially, but the unofficial application in this instance highlighted the potential drawbacks of using unapproved modifications for performance-enhancing technologies.
