Mortal Shell 2's Shrine of Sorrows stands out as a unique area, diverging from the game's typical dark fantasy atmosphere to embrace horror and puzzle-solving. Significantly, it shifts the player's perspective from third-person to first-person.

Shrine of Sorrows Location

The Shrine of Sorrows can be found within the Mushroom Village, located in the Fainweald region. Players should start at the Widow's Overlook beacon, then travel south and east until they encounter several Dancing Hags. Continue to the other side of this settlement and activate the Mushroom Village beacon. From there, head southeast towards a clearing with more Dancing Hags. Proceed past them and cross a rope bridge to reach a small rocky crag, the entry point to the area.

Activating Night Mode

A sign at the crag reads, “By the light of day, the truth remains sealed. And yet in the darkness all shall be revealed.” This cryptic message indicates that the Shrine of Sorrows requires 'Night Mode' to be activated, which increases enemy difficulty and rewards. To enter, players must activate Night Mode at Marrow Keep, then return to the Mushroom Village. Evade the Dancing Hags until reaching the crag again, where interacting with a large mushroom will transport the player to the Shrine of Sorrows.
